A process to convert the format of time progressed in-game to real world time. This is especially useful for long-term projects such as breeding, hatching and training legendary Pokémon with out having to set aside an entire day just to work on one thing.

As with any time conversion, it is important that you are using the same system for both the real-world and in-game times. An example of this would be if your device’s clock was off, so would the time calculated by Time Conversion be incorrect as well.

What Time is 16:20

The first thing you need to do is find out what time it is in game. This can be done by simply looking at your 3DS’s Home Menu. It should say something like “It’s currently X o’clock” where X would be the displayed time (in this case, 18). If the 3DS was unable to get the time through SpotPass, it may be different. Take note of that time (in this case 18), then simply subtract 6 hours from it. The resulting number will be what time you need to enter into the converter in order for your game time to equal your real-world time.

How Many Seconds are in a Day

With the Time Conversion website, simply scroll to the very bottom of the page and you will find two boxes. The box on the left displays your in-game time while the box on the right displays your real-world time. Simply enter 18 into the in-game time box (the already mentioned X o’clock) and 7:00 AM into the real-world time box. Then click “Convert”.

The resulting number is how many in-game days, hours and minutes have passed since your in-game day began. In the example, it would be 1 day 2 hours 48 minutes since the beginning of the current gameplay session.

How Many Minutes are in An Hour

Simply enter the already calculated number into the real-world time box. If you have not already done so, it would be a good idea to include your device’s current clock time in order to get an accurate result. You can find this by looking at your device’s home menu again or visiting the Time Conversion website directly. Enter 1 day 2 hours 48 minutes into the real-world time box and you will see that it is currently 16:20.

How Many Hours are in a Day

This part can be a little tricky because it involves calculating what time of day it is and how many hours have passed since midnight. If you thought the last part was hard, this one will certainly take some time to get used to. The first thing you need to do is find out what day and hour it currently is in-game. On the Time Conversion website, enter 1 day 2 hours 48 minutes into the real-world time box and you will see a few numbers appear in the in-game time box. The number that appears is what hour of your current gameplay session it is.

What is The Difference Between a Second, Minute, and Hour

For this part, you will need to figure out how many hours have passed since midnight. To begin with, find out what time your 3DS’s clock is currently set to. Then simply subtract that value from the “hours” value shown in the real-time box.

For example, if it was 7:30 PM and you subtracted 7:30 from 18 hours, you would get 11. This is because the first value displayed in the real-time box is actually a day value and not an hour value. So subtracting 7:30 from 18 gives you 11 because there are currently 11 hours left until midnight.

Conclusion

Now that you have completed this guide, you should be able to easily figure out what time of day it is in-game. Remember to always use the same system for both the real-world and in-game times!
